Coursegoules took on its present from in the 11th century. From 1620 until the revolution Coursegoules was a « royal town ». Resting on a ridge on the eastern slope of the Cheiron chain, the village offers a wonderful view. But you must walk around the maze of streets and flights of steps, appreciate the door-lintels, sober but all different, porches and arches, which decorate the most modest barns. From the ramparts you cannot fail to admire the magnificent view of the crests of the Cheiron. web
La Colle sur Loup, a city of antiquaries and Artists. It is a pleasant climatic and tourist resort, surrounded by green wooded hills. The Loup river is one of the principal attractions of La Colle sur Loup. Its banks are true oases of coolness, and its peaceful, murmuring waters are very much appreciated during the hot summer days, and also very famous for the trout you can catch ; it is a paradise for all those who create pictures. The community park of La Guérinière is also available, with its healthy walks and games for children. The center-town is charming and typical, with its shopping streets and ancient alleys where you will discover the rich architectural and religious heritage. There are frequent spectacles there. La Gaude, a little commune of the « Moyen Pays », has its own baou, which rises to 796 metres. Less rugged than that of Saint Jeannet, its relief allows paragliders to launch themselves. When you next climb the Baou de la Gaude, enjoy the panoramic view over the Côte d’Azur, and also stop several hundred metres further on to admire one of the oldest and largest trees in France, the Daumas oak, which is more than 500 years old. Once your sporting activity is over, you can come into the heart of the village to admire the little roads, full of history, the Chapel of St.Ange decorated by Alexis Obolensky and Alain Peinado, as well as the Life eco-Museum of Provence.web
Saint-Jeannet, a picturesque perched village, was built in the shelter of its Baou, as a means of protection, while enjoying a position facing due south, suitable for the cultivation of olive-trees, vines and flowers. The Baou de Saint-Jeannet (altitude 807 metres) has also contributed to the development of the village with its rock-climbing site, famous in France for its 500 routes to the summit. At the summit of the Baou, you will enjoy the very beautiful view over Nice and the hills, the Esterel and the Var valley, as well as the back country, with in the distance, the Alpins summits, often covered with snow. The ancient Saint-Jeannet has twisting streets and numerous cul-de-sacs. The rue de la Tour is distinctive, in that it is the only road in Saint-Jeannet, which is at the same time wide, rectangular and carefully paved.
Saint-Paul has its origin on a natural defensive site. Surrounded by walls built in the first half of the 16th century, on the orders of Francis 1st, the village became a royal strongpoint, opposite the powerful fortress of Nice. Walking in the picturesque little streets, from the Vence Gate to the Nice Gate, along the rue Grande, you will discover magnificent old facades, both mediaeval and baroque. You will wander, and find unexpected alleys and gardens, little squares, fountains, porches and delicately-worked windows, which will make the photographers happy. The beauty of the site, the gentleness of life there, and its exceptional light have inspired many famous artists, writers, poets and painters ; some of whom have chosen to make their permanent home there. Tourrettes sur Loup, City of Arts and Violets. Between sea and mountain, 20 km from Nice and 30 from Cannes, Tourrettes sur Loup is a medieval village perched atop a rocky spur. With ideal climate in all seasons, the village has remained intact and surrounds the 13th century Chateau in a half-moon shape. A City of Arts, some thirty workshops, galleries and boutiques can be found throughout the village. Here you’ll find painters, sculptors, weavers, potters, decorators, designers, musicians, composers, writers and poets... all blending passion and tradition into creations of original and unique works that contribute to the artistic lure of Tourrettes. A City of Violets:Tourrettes, well known for its violet cultivation for more than one century, produces the Victoria variety. It has a distinctive colour and a delicate sweet smelling scent which is used for bouquets and sold to perfumery and confectionery. Since 1950 the village has been celebrating the Festival of Violets each year on the first or second weekend of March. This latter announces the Spring and the flowers decorate the float of « Corso Fleuri ». web
