Easter 2009 : Authentic Traditions

The traditional Easter festivities will take place on the 11th, 12th & 13th April 2009. These are special moments in the convivial, authentic local traditions of Vence.

Saturday 11th April

8.30 pm At the Salle J. Falcoz

Bal de la Reine (The Queen’s Ball).

Sunday 12th April

9.00 am Cathédrale Notre Dame de la Nativité

Traditional Easter Mass.

Place Georges Clemenceau

10.00 am

Danse de la Souche by La Brissaudo (local folk dancing entertainment by the group, La Brissaudo).

Annual Crowning Ceremony of the Queen.

10.30 am

Homage paid to various famous Provencal figures.

3.00 pm

Folk dancing entertainent by the groups Lei Dindouleto dou Roucas and Li Gai Farandoulaire (from Vitrolles and Marseille).

9.00 pm

At the Salle Falcoz.

Theatre evening presenting « Pepidoun » with Barba Zoun (followed by local wine and pastry tasting).

Monday 13th April

9.30 am

Departure of the traditional Easter Procession towards the Plateau St Michel.

10 am

Easter Mass.

11 am

Procession through the town streets – Floral Decorations presented by the Chaplaincy.

14.30 pm

The traditional Queen’s Parade and Flower Battle.

With added entertainment from the folk dancing groups La Banda Dou Païoun, Lo Cepon and Les Bâtons du Castellas…

6 pm At the Salle J. Falcoz
